In a tragic turn of events, the body of a young boy who went missing while swimming in the Tila River in Kalikot has been discovered. The deceased has been identified as Hikmat Bam, a 14-year-old resident of Tilagufa-7.
Ganesh Nepali, the Chief District Officer (CDO), confirmed the news of the discovery. He mentioned that the Armed Police Force (APF) diving team from Surkhet, which was deployed in Kalikot, successfully located the body of the missing boy. CDO Nepali expressed gratitude towards the diving team for their efforts in finding the deceased.
The tragic incident occurred when Hikmat Bam was swept away by the strong currents of the Tila River while swimming near Tilagufa-6 Galje on Tuesday afternoon. Despite extensive search efforts by the police and family members, the boy could not be located until the diving team joined the operation.
Hikmat Bam, a student of the 8th grade at Satya Devi Secondary School in Kalikot, was the son of Narendra Bam, a resident of Chapre, Tilagufa-5, who ran a local eatery in the municipality. The sudden loss of the young boy has left the community in shock and mourning.
Inspector Kamal KC of the APF led the diving team in retrieving the body from the Tila River. Following the recovery, the body was handed over to the relatives of the deceased under the supervision of local authorities for further proceedings.
