A woman has been accused of murdering her husband at their residence in Brighton, sparking a tragic turn of events.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on Lavender Street following reports of a disturbance on Monday 27 May just after 7.30pm.
Despite the valiant efforts of paramedics, the victim, identified as 70-year-old Andrew Rowland-Stuart, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Joanna Rowland-Stuart, also 70 years old, was taken into custody and subsequently charged with the murder. She has been detained pending her appearance before Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Friday 31 May.
Leading the investigation, Detective Chief Inspector Alex Campbell, from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team, stated:
“This is a rapidly evolving inquiry, and our investigations are ongoing as we strive to uncover the full circumstances surrounding Andrew’s tragic demise. Our thoughts are with his family during this challenging period.
“In the meantime, we urge the public to refrain from speculating and instead come forward with any information that may aid our investigation.
