CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A devastating incident unfolded in Chippewa County, Wisconsin, as a fatal semi-truck crash took the life of 29-year-old Seth Lehrke. The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office received a distressing call at 5:30 pm on the 29th of May, reporting that a semi had overturned on Highway N to the west of Chippewa Falls.
Lehrke, the driver of the semi, was tragically involved in the accident. The semi-truck, carrying a substantial load of 55,000 pounds of liquid manure, lost control while navigating a bend on the road. Shockingly, Lehrke was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, which resulted in him being partially ejected from the vehicle.
Emergency response teams rushed to the scene to provide aid to Lehrke; however, despite their best efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and tragically passed away at the crash site. The loss of life in this incident has left the community in mourning and serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety measures.
