Montgomery police have announced the arrest of 42-year-old Kelvin Surls in connection with a recent homicide case. Surls, a resident of Montgomery, has been charged with murder and attempted murder.
The arrest comes after Surls was identified as the prime suspect in the shooting death of 23-year-old Khiana Humphrey, also from Montgomery. The incident took place on May 23 in the 600 block of Iris Lane, where Humphrey lost her life and another woman sustained injuries.
Authorities apprehended Surls today with the assistance of the Montgomery Police Department SWAT team and the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force. He has been placed in the Montgomery County Detention Facility without bond.
