A man has been taken into custody following a disturbing road rage incident that resulted in a woman being hospitalized with gunshot wounds in Pomona Park, Florida.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident occurred on Tuesday evening near the Dollar General in Pomona Park. A woman, who was accompanied by a child, was being tailgated by a blue sedan. When both vehicles came to a halt, the woman stepped out of her vehicle to confront the driver. It was at this point that the driver of the sedan opened fire, shooting several rounds before fleeing the scene. The woman sustained gunshot wounds and had to be airlifted to a local trauma hospital for treatment.
Following an investigation, authorities identified the suspect as 56-year-old Keith Shaulis. Shaulis was apprehended this morning and now faces charges of aggravated battery, shooting into a vehicle, and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is currently being held at the Putnam County Jail without bond.
Road rage incidents can escalate quickly and have dangerous consequences. It is important for drivers to remain calm and avoid engaging in aggressive behavior while on the road.
