Cherokee Village Man Arrested

CHEROKEE VILLAGE, Ark. (KAIT) – A Cherokee Village resident has been taken into custody by authorities following a hit-and-run incident that left a woman severely injured.

The Cherokee Village Police Department reported that on Wednesday, May 29, Officer Dominic Fortner responded to a call in the 100 block of Cherokee Road regarding a woman who had been struck by a vehicle.

Witnesses stated that a red pick-up truck had pulled into a driveway and its occupants disembarked from the vehicle. When the homeowner opened her garage door, one of the individuals, identified as 25-year-old Justin Hale, quickly re-entered the truck and fled the scene at high speed, running over the victim in the process.

Upon arrival, officers found the injured woman and she was immediately airlifted to UAMS in Little Rock for urgent medical treatment. Her current condition remains unknown as per the latest police update.

Subsequently, the abandoned truck was located at a property on Nine Mile Ridge Road. Justin Hale was apprehended around 11:00 p.m. and taken into custody at the Sharp County jail on an investigative hold. He is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault, first-degree battery, and leaving the scene of an accident with injury.
