The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the identity of the Lincoln man who tragically lost his life in a crash that occurred near Southwest 84th and West A streets. The incident took place just before 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
According to investigators, the crash involved two vehicles—a Buick sedan driven by an 84-year-old woman and a Ford pickup truck driven by 49-year-old James Springer. The Buick was exiting a driveway on Southwest 84th when it was struck by Springer’s pickup truck.
The impact of the collision caused the Buick to veer into a ditch, while Springer’s pickup truck rolled into the opposite side of the road. Tragically, Springer was pronounced dead at the scene by responding deputies. The driver of the Buick was rushed to the hospital and remains in critical condition as of Thursday.
It was noted by the sheriff’s office that the driver of the Buick was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, while Springer was reportedly not properly restrained.
