Agra, 30th May: A shocking incident unfolded in Humayunpur, Agra, on the night of 28th May, as a farmer was arrested for the alleged murder of a four-year-old girl. The farmer reportedly attacked the child with a brick, accusing her of trespassing and plucking muskmelons from his field. The accused fled the scene, leaving the girl bleeding on the ridge of the field. The girl’s father, Subhash Verma, filed a complaint with the police, leading to the arrest of the accused.
According to a report by The Times of India, the tragic incident occurred when the victim, named Khushboo, followed her father to the farm without his knowledge. When her absence was noticed, a search was initiated, and she was found lying in a pool of blood with severe head injuries. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, she was declared dead upon arrival.
Following the incident, Verma lodged a complaint against the absconding accused, identified as 40-year-old Hariom Sharma, for the murder of his daughter, as reported by The Indian Express. Verma stated in his complaint that Sharma suspected the girl of stealing muskmelons from his field, leading to the brutal attack with a brick.
The police took prompt action after receiving the complaint and initiated an investigation to gather evidence against the accused. Sharma was subsequently arrested later that night.
