Dajon Baskerville : “Man Sentenced for Deadly 2023 Richmond Shooting”

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A man who was found guilty in the tragic shooting of his girlfriend in Richmond last year has been sentenced in Richmond Circuit Court earlier this week.

On the fateful day of Monday, February 13, 2023, law enforcement officers responded to a distressing call in the 4200 block of Chamberlayne Avenue. Upon their swift arrival, the officers reportedly heard a deafening gunshot emanating from within an apartment. Without hesitation, they breached the door and discovered 29-year-old Dajon Baskerville alongside a woman who had sustained a gunshot wound.

The woman, later identified as 31-year-old Summer Fuller, was swiftly transported to a nearby medical facility. Tragically, despite the best efforts of medical personnel, Ms. Fuller succumbed to her injuries. Baskerville was promptly taken into custody, and a firearm was recovered at the scene, shedding light on the grim circumstances that transpired.

As per information gleaned from online court records, Baskerville was found guilty of second-degree murder, with the initial first-degree murder charge being amended. Additionally, he was convicted of using a firearm in the commission of a felony on March 31, 2024, marking a significant development in the legal proceedings.

On Tuesday, May 28, the sentencing was handed down, with Baskerville receiving a total of 33 years behind bars. This comprised 40 years, with a commendable 10-year suspension, for the second-degree murder charge, and an additional three years for the firearm charge.
