INDIANAPOLIS — A 19-year-old Indianapolis man, Bryant Hoskins, has been arrested after being linked to a shooting and carjacking that took place on the east side of Indianapolis. Additionally, he has been connected to a separate carjacking incident that occurred earlier this month. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) made the announcement on their social media page.
Preliminary charges against Bryant Hoskins
Hoskins faces several preliminary charges in connection with the incidents, including:
- Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
- Armed Robbery
- Possession of a machine gun
- Theft of a firearm
According to IMPD, officers from the department’s east district responded to the 8100 block of E. 36th Street after receiving a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered that a woman had been shot during a robbery. The victim informed the police that her vehicle and a firearm had been stolen, and Hoskins allegedly shot her when she attempted to defend herself. The carjacked vehicle was located shortly after the incident.
During the investigation, detectives noticed similarities between this carjacking and another one that occurred on May 24 in the 7900 block of E. 38th St. Subsequently, they were able to locate Hoskins at an apartment and took him into custody without any issues.
Search and recovery
IMPD detectives conducted a search of Hoskins’ residence and the woman’s vehicle. They found the woman’s firearm and property linked to the carjacking that occurred on May 24. Additionally, a second firearm equipped with a machine gun conversion device was also discovered.
