Accident – Death – Obituary News : Three individuals have been taken into custody by the Davie County Sheriff’s Office in connection to a missing juvenile case in the Triad area. The incident unfolded when a woman, Arlene Cruz, reported her 10-year-old stepdaughter as a runaway to the authorities on April 29 at approximately 1:50 p.m. Cruz expressed concerns about the child’s well-being, including potential suicidal thoughts, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.

Following the initial report, the Davie County Sheriff’s Office mobilized additional resources to aid in the search efforts. The K9 Unit from both the DCSO and Rowan County Sheriff’s Office were deployed to assist in locating the missing juvenile. Furthermore, agencies such as the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office and Winston-Salem Police Department were also involved in searching various locations where the young girl could potentially be found.

As the investigation progressed, detectives executed multiple search warrants based on suspicions raised by the initial responding deputies and the narrative provided by the stepmother. Despite extensive efforts on April 29 and 30, investigators were unable to locate the juvenile, prompting a thorough examination of other possible scenarios for her disappearance.

The breakthrough came on the evening of April 30, when the missing child was discovered at a residence on Sentry Point Lane in Winston-Salem. The homeowner, Angie Amador, who happened to be a colleague and friend of the stepmother, reported that the juvenile had arrived at her doorstep unexpectedly.

Subsequent inquiries revealed that the juvenile had been taken to her father’s residence in Mocksville following a custody hearing in Davie County Court on April 29. From there, she was transported to Amador’s home via a ride-sharing service. The comprehensive two-day search operation incurred costs amounting to $86,684.98 for Davie County.

On Wednesday evening at approximately 5:45 p.m., the juvenile’s father, Eduardo Avila-Garcia, along with Cruz and Amador, were placed under arrest. Avila-Garcia, aged 28, faces charges of felony abduction of children, felony conspiracy for abduction of children, and felony obstruction of justice.

Cruz, aged 35, has been charged with felony abduction of children, felony child abuse, felony false report involving a child disappearance, felony conspiracy for the abduction of children, and felony obstruction of justice. Similarly, Amador, aged 40, is facing charges of felony abduction of children, felony child abuse, felony conspiracy for abduction of children, and felony obstruction of justice.

Each of the accused individuals has been assigned a secured bond of $75,000. While Avila-Garcia and Cruz remain in custody at The Davie County Detention Center, Amador was able to secure her release on Wednesday.
