Accident – Death – Obituary News :

HERVEY CITY, Ill. (WAND) – Tiimon Perry, the man charged in the fatal shooting at Five Star Auto Sales in Hervey City, has entered a plea of not guilty in court.

The incident, which occurred on May 13, resulted in the tragic death of Gregory W. Hostetler, a 48-year-old resident of Dalton City. Macon County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call at the auto sales business where they found Hostetler and his 18-year-old nephew, who was also injured in the altercation.

According to Sheriff Jim Root, the confrontation began when Perry arrived at the business to retrieve a towed vehicle. Hostetler and his nephew, who own the establishment, requested payment for the towing service before releasing the vehicle to Perry.

Witnesses reported that a physical altercation ensued inside the vehicle between Hostetler and Perry, during which Hostetler attempted to disarm Perry, who was allegedly in possession of a firearm. Hostetler’s nephew intervened, and the struggle continued outside the vehicle, leading to fatal shots being fired. Hostetler was struck in the face, while his nephew sustained injuries to the shoulder.

Perry attempted to flee the scene but was later apprehended by Mt. Zion Police and taken to the hospital for treatment. He now faces charges of first-degree murder and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

An autopsy conducted on Hostetler revealed that the cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the head. The Macon County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Illinois State Police, are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.

Perry is scheduled to appear in court again on August 8 at 9 a.m. to face the charges brought against him.
