Robert Marcu : Father Chokes 10-Year-Old in Fight with Son

In a disturbing turn of events on Memorial Day, a 10-year-old boy was reportedly choked and shaken by a 60-year-old man at Gwen Margolis Park in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida. The suspect, identified as Robert Marcu, now faces charges of aggravated child abuse with great bodily harm and battery by strangulation.

The incident, captured on cellphone video, shows Marcu grabbing the young boy by the neck and violently shaking him, causing the child’s head to bob back and forth. The victim’s face has been blurred to protect his identity.

Police Express Concern Over the Violent Attack

Sunny Isles Beach Police Sgt. Melissa Porro expressed deep concern over the incident, stating, “The biggest concern here is that a grown man with the strength of a man went after a young child that was helpless and could not defend himself based on size alone.”

According to police reports, the victim and another child, believed to be Marcu’s son, were engaged in a playful water gun fight when the altercation escalated and Marcu intervened.

Porro described the harrowing moment when Marcu allegedly choked the child, causing him to cry hysterically and become visibly upset. The arrest report details that Marcu impeded the victim’s breathing, restricted his airway, and shook him while holding onto his neck, all while stating that he did it to “teach him a lesson.”

Following the attack, the victim was left with red marks and scratches but was reported to be physically okay, albeit shaken by the traumatic incident.

Legal Proceedings and School Connection Revealed

Robert Marcu appeared in court where his bond was set at $5,000, and he was ordered to stay away from the victim. During the court proceedings, it was disclosed that the children involved in the incident attend the same school.
