Chennai, 29th May: A tragic incident unfolded in Chennai as a 28-year-old man lost his life after being brutally beaten by a mob that suspected him of peeping into women’s washrooms. The incident took place on 25th May, and seven individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident. The suspects have been identified as Ethiraj, 30; Sanjay, 23; Dinesh Kumar, 23; Venkatachalam, 34; Manikandan, 19; Nithish, 18; and Dayanidhi, 19.

According to reports from TOI, the victim, Parasuraman, hailed from a village in Tiruvannamalai district and resided in Varanavasi, Kancheepuram district. He was employed at a factory in Oragadam. The unfortunate incident occurred when Parasuraman was caught peeping into a bathroom of a house rented by women who worked in nearby factories.

Mistaking Parasuraman for a thief, a woman raised an alarm, leading local youngsters to apprehend and assault him. Police from the Oragadam station were informed and managed to rescue Parasuraman. Initially taken to a hospital in Mathur, his condition deteriorated, prompting a transfer to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, where he eventually succumbed to his injuries.

The case has now been reclassified as murder, and the seven individuals involved have been taken into custody and charged under relevant sections of the law. Authorities are actively investigating the incident, focusing on allegations that Parasuraman may have been taking photos or videos through the window.
