The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office responded to a car-pedestrian crash on North Broadway (Route 9) near Cherry Street in the Village of Red Hook on Saturday around 10:20 p.m.
The victim, 25-year-old Linh Hong Nguyen, was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a 2017 Ford Fusion that had left the roadway and hit her while she was walking on the sidewalk. Nguyen had just received her master’s degree in Music from Bard College before the fatal accident occurred.
Her piano teacher, Terrence Wilson, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic event on Facebook, highlighting Nguyen’s talent and the impact she had on those around her. Originally from Vietnam, Nguyen had moved to the Hudson Valley to pursue her graduate studies, leaving behind a musical legacy that touched many lives.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the authorities.
