Two individuals tragically lost their lives in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district after a car, reportedly part of the convoy of Bharatiya Janata Party election candidate Karan Bhushan Singh, collided with their motorbike on Wednesday, as per a report by PTI.
Karan Bhushan Singh, the son of former Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, is contesting from the Kaiserganj Lok Sabha constituency on behalf of the Hindutva party. Brij Bhushan, who held the seat for 15 years, was replaced by the BJP for this year’s election amidst allegations of sexual misconduct by six female wrestlers.
The victims of the accident, 17-year-old Rehan Khan and 20-year-old Shehzad Khan, were riding a motorbike when they were struck by a sports utility vehicle near a local school, according to Kernalganj Station House Officer Nirbhay Narayan Singh.
Additionally, the car veered out of control and hit a 60-year-old woman named Sita Devi who was walking along the side of the road, PTI reported.
The driver of the car, Lavkush Srivastava, has been taken into custody, as reported by The Indian Express, based on information from the police.
Local residents alleged that the car was part of Karan Bhushan Singh’s convoy, as confirmed by the police. They also claimed that the individuals in the vehicle involved in the accident left the damaged car behind and fled in another vehicle.
