WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Two individuals are facing child endangerment charges after overdosing in a hotel in Wilkes-Barre, according to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department.

On May 28, officers responded to a call at the Wilkes-Barre Inn and Suites regarding a male individual, identified as 38-year-old Joshua Patrick, who was found unresponsive on the ground outside the hotel. An eight-year-old child was seen by a witness trying to wake Patrick up.

Upon arrival, first responders discovered that the child had been running in and out of a hotel room where a woman, identified as 41-year-old Christina Brojakowski, was also found unresponsive. Court documents state that the child alerted authorities to Brojakowski’s condition.

During a search of the hotel room, law enforcement officials found hypodermic syringes, three light blue wax packets with red and blue stamps, a blue plastic container containing suspected crack cocaine, and various other drug paraphernalia.

Both Brojakowski and Patrick have been charged with endangering the welfare of children, reckless endangerment of another person, possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia, and several other related offenses.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of drug use and the impact it can have on not only the individuals involved but also on innocent children who may be present during such situations. It is crucial for communities to come together to address substance abuse issues and provide support to those in need of help.
