The Illinois State Police have apprehended a suspect in connection with a tragic accident that occurred in Wayne County, Illinois.
The ISP Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 8 has confirmed the arrest of Johnny E. Green, a 35-year-old resident of McLeansboro. Green has been charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless homicide.
According to reports from ISP, on May 24, Troop 9 received a distress call about a fatal crash involving a Polaris Razor side-by-side vehicle on County Road 70 North near County Road 425 East in Wayne County. The Polaris Razor was travelling westbound on County Road 70 North when it veered off the south edge of the road and overturned.
Tragically, during the course of the rollover, the front-seat passenger was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Johnny E. Green was identified as the driver of the Polaris Razor at the time of the incident.
Subsequently, on May 29, the Wayne County State’s Attorney formally charged Green with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless homicide. He is currently being detained at the Wayne County Jail.
