(WHDH) – A Martha’s Vineyard man, identified as Jared Ravizza, 26, of Chilmark, is currently undergoing evaluation at Bridgewater State Hospital for a period of 20 days following a violent stabbing spree that occurred on the South Shore last Saturday. The shocking incident saw Ravizza allegedly stabbing four girls at a movie theater in Braintree before targeting two more individuals at a fast food restaurant off Route 3 in Plymouth. Ravizza’s actions ultimately led to his arrest after crashing his Porsche in Sandwich.
Psychologist Dr. Kimberly Bistis, who assessed Ravizza on Tuesday, stated, “He’s evidencing signs and symptoms of an active psychotic illness.” She further elaborated on the extreme delusional beliefs Ravizza holds, including notions of his family’s involvement in organized crime. Ravizza is also linked to an ongoing murder investigation in Deep River, Connecticut.
For the Plymouth incident, Ravizza faces charges including armed assault to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and indecent exposure. Similarly, Braintree Police have issued an arrest warrant for Ravizza on multiple counts of assault to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Charges related to the Connecticut incident remain pending as of Tuesday. Ravizza is currently being held without bail and is expected to appear in court in the coming weeks.
Connecticut State Police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Deep River, where a suspect, believed to be Ravizza, had allegedly thrown a shovel through the front door window before fleeing. The victim, identified as Bruce Feldman, 70, of West Hartford, Connecticut, was discovered with fatal injuries. Personal belongings of Ravizza were found at the scene, prompting authorities to issue alerts across Connecticut and Massachusetts.
In a separate incident at a movie theater in Braintree, four girls were viciously stabbed by an individual matching Ravizza’s description. The victims, including 9-year-old twins and two 17-year-old girls, sustained injuries but are expected to recover. Lisa Dembrowski, the mother of three of the victims, expressed shock at the senseless attack, highlighting the vulnerability of innocent children in such situations.
Just hours later, a stabbing was reported at a McDonald’s in Plymouth, where Ravizza was implicated in the assault of a 21-year-old female and a 28-year-old male. The prosecution detailed the events leading to the attack, emphasizing the violence and chaos that ensued at the fast-food establishment. The injured employee, Igor Marques, bravely assisted in identifying Ravizza to law enforcement.
