A man has been taken into custody after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend in the head in Casselberry, Florida. The incident took place on Wednesday morning, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
The Casselberry Police Department received a distress call just after 9 a.m. from a man who admitted to attacking his girlfriend. Upon receiving the call, officers from the Casselberry Police, Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, and Seminole County Fire Department rushed to the scene at 43 San Jose Circle in Casselberry.
Upon arrival, authorities found a man outside an apartment building and discovered a woman inside with a severe stab wound to her head. The victim was later identified as 34-year-old Vanessa Marie Santiago. Tragically, paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.
The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Farel Torres, was immediately taken into custody by law enforcement. Investigators believe the incident was a case of domestic violence homicide. It was revealed that Torres and Santiago shared a child together, although the child was not present during the violent altercation.
