Accident – Death – Obituary News : On Monday evening, tragedy struck in Vengoor, Kochi, as an 18-year-old youth named Eldhose drowned in the Paniyeli Canal under the Kanichattupara bridge. Eldhose, the son of Shybin of Aruvappara, Kombanad, had gone for a bath around 5.45pm with his friends when he mysteriously got washed away in the canal.
His friends raised an alarm, prompting nearby residents to launch rescue efforts. Despite their best attempts, Eldhose was eventually pulled out of the water and rushed to a hospital in Kothamangalam. Sadly, the doctors declared him dead at 6.59pm.
The police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) for unnatural death in this tragic incident. Eldhose’s body was later handed over to his relatives after undergoing an autopsy on Tuesday.
With the monsoon rains intensifying and water levels rising in rivers and canals, authorities have issued warnings to residents to exercise caution when venturing into the waters. This unfortunate incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers posed by water bodies during the rainy season.
In a similar incident, three individuals lost their lives while bathing in the Kasganj canal during a religious ceremony. A group of women and girls from Rekhpur village ventured into a branch of the Gorha Canal for a bath, resulting in a tragic outcome.
