Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A shocking incident occurred at a private hospital in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, where a 30-year-old woman had her healthy and functioning kidney removed by mistake. The woman, Eid Bano, was admitted to Dhankar Hospital on May 15 for treatment of her left kidney, but the doctor mistakenly removed her right kidney instead of the damaged one.

Dr Sanjay Dhankar, the owner of Dhankar Hospital, performed the surgery on Eid Bano, who was suffering from kidney stones. After a few tests, the doctor informed her that one of her kidneys was damaged and needed to be removed immediately.

However, two days after the surgery, Eid Bano’s condition worsened, and she was rushed back to the hospital. Dr Dhankar then referred her for treatment in Jaipur and instructed her family not to disclose the surgery at Dhankar Hospital to anyone.

Upon admission to Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur, the negligence of Dr Dhankar came to light, and the family discovered the mistake. The doctors at SMS Hospital were unable to rectify the error and had no choice but to send Eid Bano back home.

Subsequently, Dr Dhankar visited Eid Bano’s family home and offered financial compensation to cover her treatment elsewhere. However, the family rejected the offer and lodged a police complaint against Dr Dhankar.

Rajasthan Government Takes Action

On Tuesday, May 28, the Rajasthan Government intervened in the case, swiftly cancelling the registration of Dhankar Hospital. Shubhra Singh, Additional Chief Secretary in the Medical and Health Department, addressed the seriousness of the situation, stating that the hospital’s clinical establishment registration was revoked immediately.

Singh declared, “Action is underway to terminate the hospital’s empanelment from various schemes of the Rajasthan government. Additionally, steps are being taken to seize the hospital.”

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of diligence and accountability in the medical profession. Patients entrust their lives to doctors, expecting the highest standard of care and expertise. The repercussions of medical errors can be severe and long-lasting, underscoring the need for stringent measures to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
