Accident – Death – Obituary News : A woman has been refused bail after being implicated in connection with the discovery of a deceased woman in a residence near Travelers Rest. Cherith Crown, aged 38, made an appearance before a judge on Tuesday evening, facing charges of obstruction of justice and accessory after the fact in relation to a murder case. She, along with Michael Clarkson, aged 39, were apprehended shortly after the body was found in a gated community in Greenville County, South Carolina, according to sheriff’s deputies.

Crown’s legal representative appealed to Judge Ernest O’Brien of Greenville County for lenience, highlighting that she is a local real estate agent with two children and no prior record of violence. However, the judge dismissed the plea, stating, “It has been alleged that she has obstructed justice by tampering with evidence indicating the guilt of the other party, and she is also accused of aiding and abetting in the aftermath of the murder. For these reasons, I have decided to deny her bail.”

Deputy Jeremy Holt from the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office disclosed that Clarkson and Crown were taken into custody in Anderson County on Tuesday afternoon. The arrests were made in connection with the discovery of the body of Colleen D’Ortona, aged 40, found at a residence on Velo Way in Travelers Rest early in the morning.

Investigative findings established a connection between both Clarkson and Crown and the death of D’Ortona. Holt mentioned that Clarkson was flagged as a person of interest due to his domestic relationship with the deceased. A search warrant was executed at a business owned by Clarkson on New Easley Bridge Road, with WYFF News 4’s Sky 4 and news teams present at the scene throughout the day.

Upon the arrival of news crews at the location around 1:30 p.m., forensic experts were observed entering and exiting a trailer at South Carolina Finance Adjusters. Clarkson fled the area but was eventually apprehended in Anderson County by Greenville County deputies with the assistance of the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office. Clarkson faces a murder charge, while Crown faces charges of being an accessory after the fact of murder and obstruction of justice. Both individuals are currently detained at the Greenville County Detention Center.

Holt anticipates additional charges being brought against Clarkson in the near future. Crown is scheduled for another bond hearing within the next 30 days, while Clarkson is expected to appear for a bond hearing on Wednesday morning..
