Accident – Death – Obituary News :

After a tense four-month wait, a jury has reached a decision in the case of a Dallas woman who was involved in a fatal shooting incident. The woman, Aleah Wallace, had claimed that she shot a Black boy who tried to break into her home.

Not Enough Evidence to Charge

Aleah Wallace has been cleared of all charges by the Tarrant County grand jury. The decision came after it was determined that there was insufficient evidence to charge her with a crime. The incident in question took place in December 2023, when Wallace shot at a boy, later identified as 14-year-old Devin Baker, who was allegedly attempting to climb through her 8-year-old daughter’s window.

Protecting Her Family

In an interview following the incident, Wallace stated, “I was just protecting my kids. I am devastated that he was 14. I hate that and I’m so sorry. But at that point, I had to think about my babies. I didn’t know he was 14 when he was on the other side of that window.” She emphasized that her actions were motivated by a desire to ensure the safety of her children.

Previous Safety Concerns

Wallace revealed that this was not the first time she had felt concerned for her safety and that of her four children. She had previously reported multiple attempted break-ins, leading to a heightened sense of alertness and readiness to protect her family.

Legal Battle and Eviction

Following the shooting incident, Wallace faced a legal battle as her landlord issued an eviction notice due to her possession of a firearm in government-subsidized housing. However, with the assistance of a pro-bono attorney, she managed to retain her rental home despite the challenges.

Gratitude for the Jury’s Decision

Expressing her gratitude for the jury’s decision not to press criminal charges against her, Wallace stated, “I feel great that they were able to see it through my eyes. I want to offer my condolences to his family and thank everyone who helped me and my girls.” Since the incident, Wallace has relocated herself and her children to a different part of the county.
