Accident – Death – Obituary News :

TACOMA, Wash. – Police in Tacoma have apprehended a man accused of attempting to break into a residence while the occupants were asleep earlier this month.

On the night of May 12, just before midnight, a resident was awoken by a loud thud originating from the roof. Upon investigation, the homeowner discovered an individual trying to gain entry to the property through the fourth-floor balcony.

The homeowner confronted the intruder, leading to a physical altercation. The resident managed to land several punches on the suspect, who retaliated with a few knife swipes. Fortunately, the homeowner sustained only minor injuries.

Subsequently, the suspect dropped from the fourth-floor balcony to the third floor before making his escape to the ground. Reports indicate that the suspect was armed with two knives and potentially scissors.

Following the incident, the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. The homeowner pursued the suspect in his own vehicle briefly before losing sight of him and subsequently contacting the authorities.

The homeowner informed responding officers that he did not recognise the perpetrator.

After detectives circulated a Crime Stoppers bulletin regarding the incident, a family member of the suspect came forward and identified him to the police. The relative disclosed that the suspect had recently been discharged from the hospital and was struggling with his mental health, specifically mentioning that he had bipolar disorder.

The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Adam Groetsch, was arrested without incident on May 26. He is currently being detained at the Pierce County Jail on charges of first-degree attempted burglary and second-degree assault. Bail has been set at £75,000.
