In a tragic incident, Marie Robbins, a resident of Somesville, lost her life in a house fire in Aurora on May 20, 2024.

The Aurora Fire Department responded to the fire at 23 Old Dam Way in Great Pond in the early hours of the morning. The State Fire Marshal’s Office was called in to investigate the fatal fire, where two bodies were found. Autopsies were conducted, and the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit North is assisting in the investigation.

Following the initial response, further investigation revealed that the deaths of Marie Robbins and Ryan Devisme, also found in the fire remains, are considered suspicious. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner positively identified the victims, and the investigation is ongoing.

Marie Robbins, a volunteer firefighter in Aurora and originally from Somesville, was mourned by the Aurora Volunteer Fire Department. The department expressed their condolences and highlighted Marie’s dedication and enthusiasm for her role.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office and Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit North were involved in an investigation in Mount Desert. Multiple well-being checks and motor vehicle complaints were responded to in Bar Harbor and Mount Desert.

Kevin M. Shaughnessy was arrested for criminal trespass in Bar Harbor, and various complaints and reports were addressed by the local police departments.
