CHICAGO (WLS) — A man has been identified following a fatal shooting on Chicago’s South Side over the Memorial Day weekend, authorities have confirmed.

The tragic incident took place on Monday morning at approximately 8:47 a.m. in the 8000-block of Stewart Avenue within the West Chatham neighbourhood.
The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
The deceased has been identified as 43-year-old Ronald Williams, as confirmed by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Authorities have not made any arrests in connection with the shooting, but the Chicago Police Department’s detectives are actively investigating the case.
The recent surge in gun violence over the Memorial Day weekend has seen a total of 41 individuals shot, with nine of them tragically losing their lives. Among the victims was a 5-year-old girl who was fatally wounded in a separate incident.
The rise in gun-related crimes has sparked concern among city officials and residents alike, with calls for stricter gun control measures and increased police presence in affected areas.
As investigations continue and the community mourns the loss of yet another life to senseless violence, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
