Following a daring escape, two inmates who broke out of a jail near Baton Rouge, Louisiana, have been apprehended after being discovered hiding in a dumpster behind a Dollar General store. The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Avery Guidry, 19, and Travon Johnson, 21, were located approximately 20 miles south of the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.

The authorities revealed that the fugitives, Omarion Hookfin, 19, and Jamarcus Cyprian, 20, are still on the run. Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards disclosed that the four inmates managed to escape through the perimeter fence of the jail during their recreational time in the yard on Sunday evening.

According to the sheriff’s office, a thorough examination of the perimeter fence exposed a section that was deemed vulnerable and easily navigable, allowing for a swift escape. The inmates had been incarcerated for various charges including a 2022 homicide in Hammond, Louisiana, armed robbery, weapon offenses, and aggravated battery.

Johnson, Hookfin, and Guidry were implicated in the homicide case, while Cyprian faced charges related to armed robbery and possession of weapons. Additionally, Hoofkin was charged with aggravated battery during his time in Catahoula Parish.

Escaped Inmates Still at Large

Efforts to locate the remaining fugitives are ongoing, with law enforcement urging the public to contact emergency services immediately if they have any information regarding the whereabouts of the escaped inmates. The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office is working tirelessly to ensure the safe capture of all individuals involved.
