TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas – The Texas Department of Public Safety has reported that a tragic incident occurred in Travis County resulting in the death of a driver due to a blown-out tire on a trailer.
The fatal crash took place in the 10300 block of SH 130, where 55-year-old Michellene Marie Rougier lost control of her vehicle after the rear right tire on her 2008 Ford F-350 blew out while towing a two-axle flatbed trailer.
Details of the Incident
Rougier was unable to regain control of her vehicle after the tire blowout, leading to the devastating crash that claimed her life. Emergency services pronounced her dead at the scene of the accident.
Additionally, a passenger who was travelling in the truck at the time of the crash was transported to a medical facility in Hays County for treatment of any injuries sustained during the incident.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities have not released any further details regarding the crash, but the Texas DPS has confirmed that an investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause of the tire blowout and subsequent crash.
