Accident – Death – Obituary News : A mother from Massachusetts has come forward to share her harrowing experience after her three children and their friend were viciously attacked by a man at a local movie theater over the weekend. Lisa Dembowski, a high school guidance counselor, recounted the terrifying incident that took place at the AMC Braintree 10 movie theater around 6 p.m. on Saturday to NBC Boston.
According to Dembowski, her three daughters and their friend were stabbed by an assailant as they were watching a movie. She expressed her concerns for her children, particularly her eldest daughter who is very protective of her younger siblings and is anxious about their well-being following the traumatic event. The mother condemned the attacker, describing him as a “sick individual” for targeting innocent children.
Braintree police reported that the man entered the movie theater, bypassed the ticket counter, and entered one of the theaters where he approached four girls aged 9 to 17. Without warning, he launched a sudden and unprovoked attack on the young females, leaving them with injuries that fortunately were not life-threatening.
The man, later identified as 26-year-old Jared Ravizza from Chilmark on Martha’s Vineyard, fled the scene after the assault. The girls were promptly transported to Boston hospitals for medical treatment. Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz revealed that Ravizza has been linked to multiple incidents, including another stabbing at a McDonald’s in Plymouth, where two individuals were injured but survived.
Authorities disclosed that surveillance footage captured Ravizza stabbing a man and a woman at the fast-food restaurant, before fleeing in a vehicle that eventually crashed in Sandwich. He was apprehended by state police and taken to the hospital for treatment. Ravizza is expected to face several charges in Plymouth District Court, including assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
In response to the incident, an AMC spokesperson expressed sadness over the senseless act of violence and reassured the public that the victims are recovering. The theater chain has pledged to enhance security measures in light of the attack. USA TODAY reached out to AMC for further comment on the matter.
Connecticut State Police also revealed a potential connection between Ravizza and the death of a 70-year-old man in Deep River. Personal items belonging to Ravizza were discovered at the scene, and witnesses provided a description matching that of the suspect.
