A tragic incident occurred on the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach, California, on Saturday night, as a man driving a truck struck and killed a 14-year-old pedestrian. The Newport Beach Police Department confirmed the victim’s age and gender.
At around 6:45 p.m., the collision took place just a block away from the popular Balboa Fun Zone. Following the incident, authorities closed off eastbound Balboa Street at westbound Palm Street to investigate the scene.

According to Newport Beach Police, alcohol is suspected to have played a role in the fatal crash. The driver, identified as 30-year-old Joseph Alcazar from Fontana, stayed at the scene and was subsequently arrested on charges of homicide and cruelty to a child.
