Accident – Death – Obituary News : A man in California has caused immense distress to a police officer by engaging in a campaign of harassment, hacking his personal computer’s camera, and attempting to blackmail him and his wife, all because the officer issued him a ticket for jaywalking in Fresno.

The Fresno cop, who has chosen to remain unnamed, has taken legal action against the perpetrator, identified as John Christopher Spatafore, and against the Community Regional Medical Center, where John was employed at the time of the incidents.

The troubling series of events unfolded on Oct. 25, 2019, when 55-year-old John was caught crossing the street illegally near Fresno City Hall and the railroad tracks. The police officer on duty issued him a jaywalking ticket, prompting a hostile reaction from John.

Despite being described as confrontational during the encounter, John accepted the ticket and left the scene. However, what followed was a disturbing escalation of events.

John, an IT professional at the hospital, initiated a vengeful campaign against the officer by attempting to hack into his email account. This led to the officer receiving multiple password reset codes over the following days.

Subsequently, the officer started receiving unsolicited calls, emails, and text messages from various businesses, all in response to requests that he had not made. His phone was inundated with 100 texts in a single day, causing significant disruption.

The harassment extended to false reports filed by John, including an accusation of the officer being involved in a hit-and-run incident. This led to an investigation that eventually traced the fake reports back to John’s IP address at the hospital.

In a further disturbing turn, John filed another false report claiming that the officer’s wife was a victim of domestic violence at home. Although this report was also proven false, it caused significant distress to the officer and his wife.

The culmination of John’s actions was a direct threat to the couple, claiming to have hacked their computer’s camera and possessing compromising videos that would be leaked unless certain demands were met.

John was arrested on Nov. 21, 2019, and found in possession of a loaded .38 caliber revolver without a license. Subsequently, he was terminated from his job at the hospital for his involvement in the incidents.

While the criminal case against John was dropped after entering a mental health diversion program, the officer has filed a lawsuit seeking compensation for invasion of privacy, emotional distress, and negligent supervision.

The officer and his family are each seeking at least $5.5 million in damages as the case progresses towards a potential trial this year. The legal proceedings aim to hold John accountable for his cyber campaign of hate and revenge and to seek justice for the emotional harm inflicted on the officer and his loved ones..
