Two women have filed a lawsuit against kicker Brandon McManus and the Jacksonville Jaguars, alleging that McManus sexually assaulted them during the team’s flight to London last year, according to court documents obtained by ESPN.
McManus, a Philadelphia native, attended North Penn High School in Lansdale, Pa. before playing at Temple University from 2009 to 2012.
The two women, referred to as Jane Doe I and Jane Doe II in the lawsuit filed in Duval County Circuit Civil Court, claim that McManus rubbed himself against them and engaged in inappropriate behavior. They also accuse the Jaguars of failing to supervise McManus and create a safe environment for the staff.
They are seeking over $1 million in damages and requesting a jury trial.
McManus’ attorney, Brett R. Gallaway, denied the allegations, calling them “fictitious and demonstrably false” and stating that they are part of an extortion attempt to defame the NFL player.
Jaguars Respond to Lawsuit
The Jacksonville Jaguars acknowledged the lawsuit and emphasized the importance of integrity and character within the organization. The team did not re-sign McManus for the upcoming season, and he signed with the Washington Commanders.
The Commanders released a statement saying they are investigating the matter and taking the allegations seriously.
Details of the Allegations
According to the lawsuit, the two women were flight attendants on the Jaguars’ charter flight in September 2023. The flight allegedly turned into a party, with McManus and other players behaving inappropriately and disregarding safety protocols.
Doe I claims that McManus tried to kiss her during turbulence and made unwanted advances. Doe II alleges that McManus also engaged in inappropriate behavior towards her during the flight.
The lawsuit states that the women have suffered mental anguish, anxiety, and emotional distress as a result of the incidents. They have been removed from the core crew that staffs Jaguars charter flights.
Legal Action and Allegations of Negligence
The lawsuit accuses the Jaguars of gross negligence for failing to properly hire, train, and supervise McManus. It also alleges that the team did not have adequate policies in place to prevent sexual misconduct and inappropriate behavior.
McManus, who signed with the Jaguars in 2023 after being released by the Denver Broncos, had a successful season with the team before moving to the Washington Commanders.
