The Washington Commanders and the Jacksonville Jaguars are currently embroiled in a legal battle after two women filed a lawsuit against kicker Brandon McManus. The lawsuit, filed in civil court last week, alleges that McManus sexually assaulted the women during a charter flight to London last year when he was playing for the Jaguars.
Commanders and Jaguars Respond
A spokesperson for the Washington Commanders stated that the team is taking the allegations very seriously and is currently investigating the situation. The Commanders have reportedly spoken with McManus’ agent and the NFL office regarding the matter.
The Jacksonville Jaguars, on the other hand, acknowledged the lawsuit and the significance of the claims being made. In a statement, the Jaguars emphasized the importance of maintaining an organization built on high character and class.
Allegations Against McManus and Jaguars
According to ESPN, the two women, identified as Jane Doe I and Jane Doe II, accuse McManus of inappropriate behaviour during the flight, including rubbing and grinding against them. The lawsuit also alleges that the Jaguars failed to supervise McManus and create a safe environment for their staff.
The women are seeking more than $1 million in damages and have requested a jury trial. McManus’ lawyer has denied the allegations, calling them “absolutely fictitious and demonstrably false.”
McManus’ Career and Legal Battle
Brandon McManus, who recently signed with the Washington Commanders in March, has been in the NFL for a decade. The Philadelphia native spent the first nine seasons of his career with the Denver Broncos before joining Washington.
McManus’ lawyer, Brett R. Gallaway of McLaughlin & Stern, has vowed to aggressively defend his client’s rights and integrity. He believes that the allegations are an extortion attempt and is determined to clear McManus’ name.
