The quiet Village of Clear Lake, Wisconsin, is reeling from the devastating news of a fatal car versus semi crash that took the life of 34-year-old Alexis Steinberger. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the identity of the victim following the tragic incident.
The harrowing event unfolded on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at approximately 4:55 p.m. Reports came in to authorities regarding a collision between a car and a semi truck at the intersection of State Highway 63 and 60th Avenue, just north of the Village of Clear Lake.
According to the official press release from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, a car carrying three individuals was travelling westbound on 60th Avenue when it failed to obey a stop sign. This grave error led the vehicle directly into the path of a northbound semi truck on Highway 63. The impact caused the semi, which was transporting diesel fuel and gasoline, to overturn.
Tragically, Alexis Steinberger, the driver of the car, sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Despite being airlifted to hospital for urgent medical care, she succumbed to her injuries. Two passengers in the car were also injured and required hospital treatment.
Fortunately, the driver of the semi truck emerged from the incident without serious injuries. Emergency crews swiftly responded to the scene, working diligently to contain the leak from the overturned semi.
