Accident – Death – Obituary News : The East Algoma OPP have announced the successful arrest of a wanted individual who had been evading authorities. The suspect was apprehended hiding in the attic of a residence on Hillside Drive South in Elliot Lake, as per a recent OPP news release. This individual had four outstanding warrants for their arrest, including charges related to trafficking Schedule I substances, sexual assault, and multiple failures to comply with legal orders.
The arrest came following a break-in at a hardware store on Hillside Drive South on May 10, where various items were reported stolen. Upon reviewing video surveillance footage, law enforcement was able to identify the wanted individual as the suspect in the burglary.
A 39-year-old resident of Elliot Lake has been charged with several offences, including possession of break-in instruments, resisting a peace officer, escaping lawful custody, and failing to comply with probation orders and release orders. Additionally, the individual faces charges of breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence.
The accused is set to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on May 27. It is important to note that all allegations against the individual are yet to be proven in court, and they are considered innocent until proven guilty.
