The driver, identified as James Dwayne Taylor, a 55-year-old Ashland man, was heading south on County Road 681 in his Chevrolet Silverado truck when he collided with the young cyclist who was also traveling in the same direction on his bicycle. The victim, 12-year-old Tye David Miezejewski of Sullivan, was airlifted to a hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Taylor, who was uninjured in the incident, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Charges are currently pending against him in Ashland County.
