Three individuals have tragically lost their lives in a devastating crash that occurred near Council Grove, Kansas. The incident took place just before 4 p.m. on a Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Kelso Road and P Avenue, approximately 6 miles northwest of Council Grove near the lakes. The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup, driven by a 53-year-old man from White City, was travelling south on Kelso Road when it veered across the center line and collided with a northbound 2024 Toyota Rav4.
The driver of the Rav4 has been identified as Troy Sabean, a 33-year-old individual from St. Paul, Minnesota. Tragically, Troy was accompanied by two passengers, Ann Porter, 69, from Fergus Falls, Minnesota, and Emma Porter, 33, from Roseville, Minnesota, who also lost their lives in the crash. Two other occupants of the Rav4 sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a hospital in Topeka for medical treatment.
The driver of the pickup truck was also injured in the collision and was taken to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Additionally, a 51-year-old woman from White City, who was a passenger in the pickup, was transported to KU Medical Center in critical condition.
The circumstances surrounding the tragic accident are currently under investigation by the authorities to determine the cause of the crash. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of the victims during this difficult time.
