MIDLAND COUNTY, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – The Texas Department of Public Safety is currently conducting an investigation into a tragic incident that occurred early Sunday morning, resulting in the loss of one life and leaving another individual injured.
According to a detailed crash report, at approximately 2:04 a.m. on May 26, authorities received reports of a rollover crash at the intersection of County Road 1210 and County Road 173. Upon arrival at the scene, troopers discovered a Buick Lucerne that had caught fire as a result of the impact.
Initial findings suggest that the driver of the Buick, identified as 31-year-old Sabrina Ann Thompson from Andrews, was travelling westbound on CR-173 when she failed to maintain her lane while negotiating a turn near the junction of CR-1210. This led to the vehicle veering off the road, causing it to roll multiple times before colliding with a utility pole on the western side of CR-1210 and subsequently bursting into flames.
While Thompson sustained minor injuries and was promptly taken to Midland Memorial Hospital for medical attention, the passenger in the vehicle, identified as 27-year-old Dylan Marcus Bellesheim from Odessa, was tragically ejected from the car during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Midland County Death Investigator. It was revealed that Bellesheim was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is still ongoing, with authorities working diligently to piece together the events leading up to the tragic outcome.
