Accident – Death – Obituary News :

In a dramatic turn of events on Sunday evening, two suspects were arrested after a high-speed pursuit culminated in a crash in Lubbock, Texas. The incident unfolded just before 9 p.m. when a vigilant Lubbock police officer identified a stolen SUV in the vicinity of the 600 block of Marsha Sharp Freeway. The officer promptly initiated an attempt to pull over the vehicle, prompting the driver, later identified as 31-year-old Paul Bolanos, to adamantly refuse to comply with the directive.

Bolanos proceeded to accelerate at a significant velocity along the MSF access road, prompting a nail-biting chase that eventually spilled onto Buddy Holly Avenue. The pursuit reached a climax when Bolanos lost control of the stolen SUV, resulting in a harrowing rollover incident in the 1200 block of Cesar E. Chavez Drive.

Following the crash, Bolanos hastily vacated the scene on foot in an attempt to evade law enforcement. However, his efforts were thwarted after a brief pursuit, culminating in his capture by officers. A second individual, identified as 19-year-old Samantha Hernandez, was discovered within the wreckage of the vehicle. Hernandez sustained moderate injuries from the collision, while Bolanos escaped with minor harm.

Both suspects were promptly transported to University Medical Center for medical evaluation before being remanded to the Lubbock County Detention Center for processing. Bolanos faced a litany of charges, including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest in a vehicle, attempting to flee on foot, possession of illicit substances, and an outstanding arrest warrant. Hernandez, on the other hand, was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possession of illegal narcotics, and unrelated warrants.

The investigation into this incident has been assumed by the LPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit, underscoring the gravity of the situation and the meticulous attention to detail required to unravel the sequence of events leading up to the pursuit and subsequent crash.
