In Goldsboro, North Carolina, a 16-year-old driver has been charged after allegedly hitting a 58-year-old man with a car on Memorial Day and then fleeing the scene. The incident took place in the 1000 block of N. Spence Ave at approximately 1:43 p.m., as reported by the Goldsboro Police Department.

Witnesses to the incident called 911 to report that the driver had sped off with several passengers in the car. In response, police quickly arrived at the scene and began searching the area for the suspect vehicle.

After a thorough search, law enforcement officers were able to identify and apprehend the occupants of the suspect vehicle. The driver, a 16-year-old boy whose identity has not been disclosed, is facing charges including hit and run, failure to report an accident, careless and reckless driving, improper turn, and unsafe tires.

The victim, a 58-year-old man who was struck by the suspect’s car, was initially taken to UNC Health Wayne for treatment before being airlifted to ECU Health in Greenville. He is currently in critical condition, according to the Goldsboro police.
