A 61-year-old man is currently in custody following a shooting spree that resulted in five people being hospitalized on Saturday night in the San Fernando Valley, authorities have confirmed to KTLA.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. when officers from the San Fernando Police Department responded to reports of multiple individuals being shot at a residence on the 900 block of Orange Grove Avenue.

Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered four individuals who had been shot. A fifth victim later presented himself at the hospital with gunshot wounds.

The suspected shooter, identified as Martin Rodriguez, a resident of San Fernando, barricaded himself inside his home. During the standoff with the police, Rodriguez reportedly fired at a Los Angeles Police Department helicopter that was providing aerial support to the officers on the ground.

Footage captured by KTLA showed a significant presence of law enforcement agencies from across the San Fernando Valley, including K-9 units, SWAT teams, and an armored BearCat vehicle at the scene.

After a period of negotiation, the 61-year-old suspect was apprehended without further incident.

Rodriguez has been booked on seven charges of attempted murder, one charge of criminal threats, a charge of shooting at an inhabited dwelling, and a charge of shooting at an aircraft. His bail has been set at nearly $10 million.

As of now, the condition of the five victims wounded during the shooting spree is not available. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries to any law enforcement personnel.
