Accident – Death – Obituary News : GARDEN GROVE – A tragic incident unfolded in Garden Grove as a stolen car, allegedly driven by a juvenile, collided with three other vehicles while attempting to evade police, resulting in one fatality and another individual in critical condition. The devastating crash occurred at the intersection of Taft Street and Trask Avenue around 9:50 p.m. on Saturday, as reported by Traffic Investigator John Yegler from the Garden Grove Police Department.
Authorities had identified a stolen vehicle in the vicinity of Taft Street and Garden Grove Boulevard shortly before the incident. Upon attempting to initiate a stop, the teenage driver chose to flee from the scene, heading south on Taft and subsequently crashing into three other vehicles. Despite attempts to escape on foot, the suspect was apprehended by law enforcement. The identity of the juvenile driver has been withheld due to their age.
Following the collision, a passenger from the stolen vehicle absconded from the scene and remains at large. Emergency services responded swiftly to transport two critically injured victims to a nearby hospital. Tragically, 34-year-old Kevin Luu of Garden Grove succumbed to his injuries, while the other victim continues to fight for their life in critical condition.
The juvenile driver has been detained in juvenile hall pending further investigation. Authorities suspect that substances such as drugs or alcohol may have played a role in the tragic events that unfolded.
