The tragic incident took place in Mahuadih village under Shankargarh police station limits on the intervening night of Saturday-Sunday. After having dinner, Kamlesh Nagesia, his wife, and their two children went to sleep in a room of their house. In the middle of the night, Nagesia woke up and proceeded to slaughter a hen with a knife in the house’s courtyard. He then brought his elder son, who was asleep, to the courtyard and allegedly slit the child’s throat, resulting in his death.
Upon waking up and realizing that their son was missing, Nagesia’s wife confronted him about the child’s whereabouts. Shockingly, Nagesia confessed to killing the child as a ‘sacrifice’. The distraught wife raised the alarm, alerting other family members and villagers who subsequently contacted the police.
