LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — The entertainment industry was shocked by the tragic news of the death of actor Johnny Wactor, known for his role as Brando Corbin in the popular soap opera “General Hospital.” The incident occurred in downtown Los Angeles during an attempted catalytic converter theft, as confirmed by Wactor’s family to Nexstar’s KTLA.

The Los Angeles Police Department received a distress call at around 3:25 a.m. on Saturday, reporting a shooting incident at the intersection of Pico Boulevard and Hope Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered Wactor with a gunshot wound.

According to the police report, Wactor caught three individuals in the act of stealing the catalytic converter from his vehicle. When he confronted them, the situation escalated, leading to the fatal shooting.

Wactor was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The suspects involved in the incident remain at large, with authorities continuing their investigation. No further details have been disclosed at this time.

The news of Wactor’s untimely passing was first reported by TMZ and later confirmed by his younger brother, Grant. The 37-year-old actor had made a significant impact in the entertainment industry, with his notable role in “General Hospital” spanning 164 episodes from 2020 to 2022. Additionally, Wactor had showcased his talent in other popular TV shows such as “Westworld” and “Criminal Minds.”

Wactor’s talent agent, David Shaul, expressed his heartfelt condolences in a statement to Variety on Sunday.

“Johnny Wactor was a spectacular human being, not only a talented actor dedicated to his craft but a true moral compass for everyone around him.
