A shocking incident took place in Patna, where a 22-year-old final-year student of B N College was brutally beaten to death by a group of 10-15 masked assailants in the parking lot of Patna Law College. The victim, identified as Harsh Kumar, had come to write an exam at the college when the horrific attack occurred.
Victim’s Background
Harsh Kumar, the son of journalist Ajit Kumar from Vaishali, was pursuing a BA in English (Hons). He was known for his active involvement in political campaigns and recently supported Shambhavi Choudhary, the LJP (RV) nominee from Samastipur LS seat. Harsh had aspirations to contest the students’ union elections and was a well-known figure on campus.
Previous Altercations
Police revealed that Harsh had been involved in a brawl with some Patna University students last year over organizing a ‘dandiya night’ event during the festive season of Dussehra. This altercation may have played a role in the tragic events that unfolded on that fateful day.
The Brutal Attack
The attack on Harsh took place at around 12.45 pm near the college parking area. The assailants, wearing masks, mercilessly beat him with rods and bricks. Shockingly, despite the crowded location, no one intervened to stop the violence. Harsh was rushed to Patna Medical College and Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Investigation Ongoing
The City SP (east), Bharat Soni, stated that the police are still investigating the motive behind the murder and trying to identify the perpetrators. The principal of Patna Law College, Mohd Sharif, refused to comment on the incident, claiming ignorance of the details.
