Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Father and Step Mother with Pestle in Edo State
A 32-year-old man, identified as Etionsa Aiguokun, has been arrested for the alleged murder of his 74-year-old father and stepmother in Evbomore community, Ovia North-East local government area of Edo State.
The tragic incident took place last Wednesday, following a heated argument between the suspect and his father, Mr. Aiguokun, which escalated into a violent confrontation.
Reports suggest that the suspect grabbed a pestle from the kitchen and struck his father on the head, causing fatal injuries. When the stepmother, Roseline, rushed to the scene upon hearing the commotion, she too was attacked with the pestle and succumbed to her injuries.
After the brutal attack, the suspect reportedly moved the bodies of his parents to the back of the house, concealed them near a septic tank, and attempted to cover up the crime by cleaning the blood stains inside the house.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect also disposed of his late father’s mobile phone for a sum of N25,000 in Benin city.
Upon the return of the other children of the deceased, a search was initiated for the missing parents, with the suspect actively participating in the search efforts.
Following a report to the Ugbowo Division of the Police, an investigation led to the discovery of the deceased bodies and the subsequent confession of the suspect.
Edo State Police Command spokesman, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the arrest and transfer of the suspect to the Homicide Department for further investigation.
