Accident – Death – Obituary News :

ALSIP, Ill. – A family from Chicago had a shocking experience while visiting Burr Oak Cemetery in Alsip last week. As they were searching for the gravesite of their loved one, they stumbled upon a human jaw bone and teeth.

The family immediately contacted the cemetery authorities, who in turn notified law enforcement to investigate the discovery. The Cook County Sheriff’s Office has taken over the investigation, while the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office is working to determine the origin of the human remains.

According to the sheriff’s office, the bones were found in an area where human remains were previously unearthed during the grave desecration scandal of 2009. This scandal involved the destruction of at least 200 graves, with reports of gravesites being resold to grieving families and improper handling of remains.

It is suspected that the bone discovered by the family is from that time period, when the FBI uncovered the criminal activities at the cemetery. As of now, the remains have not been identified, and the investigation is ongoing.

Authorities have stated that there is no evidence of foul play or new criminal activity related to the discovery. The focus remains on determining the identity of the remains and providing closure to the affected families.
