ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – The family of a 15-year-old boy who tragically lost his life in a multi-vehicle crash in Bartow County are saying their final goodbyes.
The devastating incident occurred on I-75 near Red Top Mountain Road at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT).
Reports from investigators reveal that a Kia van lost control while travelling northbound, veering off the road and crossing a grass median into the southbound lanes. The van collided with a Chevy Tahoe and a Toyota 4Runner, before being struck by a commercial vehicle. Following the initial collision, a Hyundai SUV rear-ended the Chevy Tahoe, resulting in a tragic chain of events.
Tragically, the crash claimed the lives of four individuals and left five others injured, as confirmed by the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office.
The victims of the crash have been identified as:
- Dakarai Mason, 43
- Erin Mason, 35
- Brandon Crawford, 15
- Aimee Odom, 21
Additionally, Titus Hezekiah Mason, 6, who was in critical condition following the crash, tragically passed away on Wednesday after being taken off life support, as stated in a GoFundMe post created on behalf of his family.
Brandon Crawford, a student and football player at Cass High School, is being honoured with funeral services at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Cartersville, Georgia.
The funeral service for Brandon Crawford, 14, is scheduled for 11 a.m. on May 27 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Cartersville, where the family resided.
