Accident – Death – Obituary News :
MILLSBORO, DE—Delaware State Police have apprehended Antonio Mancilla-Pertuz, a 40-year-old resident of Millsboro, for his fifth DUI offense after a traffic stop on the evening of May 24, 2024.
The incident unfolded at approximately 8:09 PM when a state trooper spotted a Volkswagen Jetta exceeding the speed limit while heading eastbound on Millsboro Highway. The trooper promptly initiated a traffic stop and engaged with the driver, later identified as Mancilla-Pertuz. Signs of impairment were readily noticeable as the trooper detected a potent odour of alcohol emanating from Mancilla-Pertuz’s breath and observed his unsteady behaviour.
Standardized field sobriety tests were administered during the traffic stop, which conclusively led to Mancilla-Pertuz’s arrest for driving under the influence. Subsequent checks on the police database confirmed that Mancilla-Pertuz had previously been convicted of four DUI-related offenses and was operating the vehicle without a valid driver’s license. Furthermore, an open container of beer was found in his vehicle.
Post-arrest, Mancilla-Pertuz was taken to Troop 4, where he was formally charged and arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3. He has since been remanded to the Sussex Correctional Institution, with a bail amount set at £6,301 in cash.
The Delaware State Police reiterate the grave risks associated with driving under the influence and urge the public to promptly report any suspicions of impaired driving to safeguard community well-being.
